Hier, on a voulu v\u00e9rifier que l’Argentine n’\u00e9tait vraiment pas la France. On \u00e9tait pas s\u00fbr. On est donc all\u00e9 \u00e0 l’\u00e9quivalent de leur 14 juillet, le 25 de Mayo. Ici ils prononcent \u00ab\u00a0macho\u00a0\u00bb mais vous avez le droit de le dire comme de la mayo si \u00e7a vous fait marrer, moi \u00e7a me fait marrer.<\/p>\n

En gros ce qu’il s’est pass\u00e9 en mai 1810, c’est que ce bon vieux Bonaparte est all\u00e9 casser la gueule aux Espagnols, et les Argentins, pas cons, ils se sont dit que ce serait une bonne occase pour prendre leur ind\u00e9pendance. Ils sont vraiment devenus ind\u00e9pendants en 1816 si j’ai bien suivi, mais le 25 mai 1810 ils avaient d\u00e9j\u00e0 gagn\u00e9 leur r\u00e9volution et dit aux espagnols qu’ils comptaient pas \u00eatre la colonie d’une bande de losers pas capables de se d\u00e9fendre contre l’arm\u00e9e fran\u00e7aise.<\/p>\n

Et alors vraiment, heu, c’est pas du tout pareil qu’en France hein. C’est \u00e0 dire qu’ils en ont vraiment quelque chose \u00e0 foutre, eux. Ils \u00e9taient un million sur la place hier, \u00e0 chanter l’hymne de leur pays \u00e0 tue-t\u00eate et surtout, surtout, \u00e0 acclamer leur pr\u00e9sidente en fin de mandat. Ouais, c’est une autre culture.<\/p>\n

Yesterday, we wanted to check if Argentina was really different from France. We were not sure. And I guess you don’t really care, because the reason why you’re reading this is that you’re probably not french. But you can probably replace France by any other country outside of Latin America, and that should work too. So we went to the equivalent of their [ insert your national day here ], the 25 de Mayo. <\/p>\n

Basically, what happened in May 1810, is that this good old Bonaparte kicked the Spanish king’s ass, and the Argentinians, clever, thought that it would be a good opportunity for them to gain their independance. They really became independent in 1816 if I record well, but on May 25th 1810, they had already won their revolution and told the Spanish people that they didn’t want to be the colony of a bunch of losers not even capable of fighting back against French army anymore.<\/p>\n

And well, this is really not the same as France. I mean they actually give a fuck about it. They were a million on the place yesterday, singing their anthem at the top of their voice and most of all, cheering their president whose mandate ends this year. Yeah, it’s a different culture.<\/p>\n
